Hi All,
Inspiration has landed two dates for veggie pot luch activities in rock creek park. I looked into and found an available area for Sunday Sept 21st. This location is a grassy tree filled area on Beach Drive roughly a mile North of Military Road with lots of picnic tables. The site is # 9 (available by reservation, I have permits) just north of Sherill Drive, Which by the way is an amazing hill for gravity sports such as sk8 boarding or inline. There is ample parking and lots of space to fill into. Restrooms with water are a 5min walk north. Bikes skates scooters walks little and big kids are all good.
There are some park rules so please try to play safe. No sales donations or commercial activity, perfect it is all free! No alcohol is a rule, so be smart.
There is a rule against amplified sound systems and I think we will be OK with a boom box as a rhythm catalyst however any percussion and or musical energy will be welcome.
I am thinking veggie pot luck as a starter. I will bring a cooler or two. I will be sliding (sk8) the hill early and stay from 7:30 all the way through 3:30 PM so this will be a very open ended eventish happening. Maybe bring a bowl and chopsticks or a fork, let’s not be trashy. Maybe something to share.
From the West take Military Road east from Connecticut Ave approx 1.5 miles to the Rock Creek park Beach Drive exit on the right. At the stop sign turn left then drive approx a mile and site # 9 will be on the right. From the East take Military west through 16th St and exit into the park on the right, this loops around to a left and a left onto beach drive at the stop sign, then it is a mile to site # 9 on the right.
Pass the notion on because we are Ok with up to 50, with 75 being the limit. There are other sites which are not reservable which would be ideal for evening sunset hoop sessions which will evolve later.
